Dr Ronel Gowar Plastic Surgeon

Dr Gowar is based at Life St George's Hospital in Port Elizabeth. She was raised in the Eastern Cape, completed her under-graduate studies at Stellenbosch University and then practiced in emergency medicine in South Africa and Ireland before commencing specialist training. Upon completion of her training, she entered private practice and pursues an interest in research (as a side line).

In her free time, Dr Gowar enjoys bird watching, photography, and reading. She is an avid hockey player and mountain biker.

Receptionist and Patient Navigator

Ricky holds a BA (Psychology) degree. Having joined the practice in 2019, his caring nature and considerate work ethic optimise patient experience. His role as patient navigator is to provide additional support and information regarding a patient's diagnosis, surgical plan, and hospital stay.

Information for Medical Aid Patients

No co-payments will apply for consultations or procedures if the practice is contracted in to your medical aid. Please enquire with reception if your medical aid is covered.

This practice charges 200% RPL rates and discounts can be offered under reasonable circumstances. Payments for consultations are due at the time of consultation.

The practice will claim from medical aids for procedures and patients are responsible for payment of any shortfall, should one apply. A quote will be provided for procedures not fully covered by medical aid.

Please note: While we assist with the provision of appropriate coding and motivation letters for treatments, medical aid authorisation remains the responsibility of the patient.

Information for Non-Medical Aid and Cosmetic Patients

Please enquire with reception for consultation and procedure rates. No quotes are offered for cosmetic procedures without consultation. Quotes are individualised based on the complexity of the surgery required and the type of aesthetic indicated.

    Oncoplastic Surgery

    Oncoplastic surgery combines the skills of surgical oncology (cancer excision) with plastic surgery reconstructive techniques. This is especially important in ensuring that cancer is treated adequately in a manner that produces the most functional and aesthetic results.

    • Breast cancer: breast conservation surgery, mastectomy, and breast reconstruction
    • Skin cancer
    • Soft tissue sarcoma

    Special interests

    Dr Gowar is highly proficient in the wide variety of procedures offered in plastic surgery, but especially enjoys performing oncoplastic procedures, cosmetic breast surgery, abdominoplasty and labioplasty.

    This practice does not offer:

    • Brow lifts, rhinoplasty, chin or cheek implants, threading
    • Gluteal implants, calf implants, penis enlargement
    • Craniofacial surgery, cleft surgery
    • IOD claims
